PSC will host a Pennsylvania Game Commission HTE (Pennsylvania Hunter-Trapper Education) Class
Date: October 5, 2019 Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm You must register using the link below on the Pennsylvania Game Commission site: https://www.register-ed.com/events/view/148155 Overview This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training. Important: In order to prepare for your class, read Chapters 1, 4, 5 and 9 located at Today's Hunter & Trapper in PA. Note: You must be at least 11 years of age to register for this class! As of March 26, 2019, it is a federal felony offense to possess a bump stock. The Final Rule has no provision to grandfather or register devices already owned. Additionally, the grace period to surrender a bump stock to the ATF has passed, meaning your only option at this point would be to destroy all devices in your possession. Further, there is no provision for any compensation for the economic loss of a destroyed or surrendered bump stock.
The ATF has provided bump stock destruction instructions that will render the device incapable of being readily restored to its intended function. Failure to comply with this new rule is a federal felony, punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison and up to a $250,000 fine for each bump stock in your possession. Bump Stocks Banned: The Final Rule - U.S. & Texas LawShielduslawshield.com Lake Stocking Schedule and Opening Day
The Lake is scheduled to be stocked on Thursday - April 4th - and then will be closed until 8:00 AM Opening Day, which is Saturday - April 6th. Thanks to those who put in hours throughout the year to improve the club and setup for the Event, but special thanks to those who prepared the outstanding meal that was enjoyed by all.
Just a reminder that nominations were put on the floor for member consideration at the October meeting and there was only one candidate for each office or committee chair. Due to this fact, there will be no need to vote at the November meeting and results will be made official at that November meeting.

CWD RULES AFFECT OUT-OF-STATE HUNTERS HARRISBURG, PA - Pennsylvanians who harvest deer, elk, mule deer or moose out-of-state likely can’t bring them home without first removing the carcass parts with the highest risk of transmitting chronic wasting disease (CWD). Pennsylvania long has prohibited the importation of high-risk cervid parts from areas where CWD has been detected. This prohibition reduces the possibility of CWD, which always is fatal to the cervids it infects, spreading to new areas within Pennsylvania. Earlier this year, the Game Commission strengthened its ban on importing high-risk cervid parts by prohibiting any deer harvested in New York, Ohio, Maryland or West Virginia from being brought back to Pennsylvania whole. In previous hunting seasons, the prohibition applied only to deer harvested within counties in those states where CWD has been detected. With the change, Pennsylvanians who harvest deer anywhere in New York, Ohio, Maryland or West Virginia either must have them processed in those states or remove the high-risk parts before bringing the meat and other low-risk parts back into Pennsylvania. There now are 24 states and two Canadian provinces from which high-risk cervid parts cannot be imported into Pennsylvania. The parts ban affects hunters who harvest deer, elk, moose, mule deer and other cervids in: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming; as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. High-risk parts include: the head (including brain, tonsils, eyes and any lymph nodes); spinal cord/backbone; spleen; skull plate with attached antlers, if visible brain or spinal cord tissue is present; cape, if visible brain or spinal cord tissue is present; upper canine teeth, if root structure or other soft tissue is present; any object or article containing visible brain or spinal cord tissue; unfinished taxidermy mounts; and brain-tanned hides. Hunters who are successful in those states and provinces from which the importation of high-risk parts into Pennsylvania is banned are allowed to import meat from any deer, elk, moose, mule deer or caribou, so long as the backbone is not present. Successful hunters also are allowed to bring back cleaned skull plates with attached antlers, if no visible brain or spinal cord tissue is present; tanned hide or raw hide with no visible brain or spinal cord tissue present; capes, if no visible brain or spinal cord tissue is present; upper canine teeth, if no root structure or other soft tissue is present; and finished taxidermy mounts. Hunters who harvest cervids in a state or province where CWD is known to exist also should follow instructions from that state’s wildlife agency on how and where to submit the appropriate samples to have their animal tested. If, after returning to Pennsylvania, a hunter is notified that his or her harvest tested positive for CWD, the hunter is encouraged to immediately contact the Game Commission region office that serves the county in which they reside for disposal recommendations and assistance. A list of region offices and contact information can be found at by scrolling to the bottom of any page to select the “Connect with Us” tab. Pennsylvania first detected chronic wasting disease in 2012 at a captive deer facility in Adams County. The disease has since been detected in free-ranging and captive deer in a few, isolated areas of Pennsylvania. Presently, there are three active Disease Management Areas (DMAs) within Pennsylvania where special regulations apply to help prevent CWD from spreading to new areas. Deer harvested within DMAs also cannot be transported whole to points outside the DMA. Put it on your calendar - The fall Fish Fry has been re-scheduled and will be held Saturday - October 20 and will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and as always, is open to the public. Even though the last two events had low attendance, we are going to try to keep the tradition alive. With a new addition - Chicken Wings - we will have our own version of "Surf and Turf" and change the name to "Fish and Wing Nite".
Menu will include our hand-breaded fried fish, chicken wings and various sides, desserts and drinks. As usual, if you would like a cold brew with your meal, you will get tickets at the door for two glasses from the tap or, if you plan on using a lot of hot sauce, you can buy a $5.00 wrist band to get everything you need from the tap to quench your thirst. Water and available brands of pop are included with your admission. Since this is the first time with new menu items, price for this year will be $15.00/person. We will see how that goes and adjust the next one accordingly. Wing flavors will include Hot Ranch, BBQ, Honey BBQ and Honey Lemon Pepper. And just in case you want to kick it up a notch, we will also have a bottle of Hot Sauce available. We also plan to have raffles and prizes. To help spread the word, flyers will be available in the club house and at the kitchen during the Thursday night auctions starting on September 20.
